Should you only have Rp 600,000 (US$64.5) in your pocket and you are required to buy a mobile phone, you might be left with few choices.
You might only be able to purchase a mobile phone with basic functions such as calling, receiving phone call, short message service (SMS) and storing friend's mobile phone numbers.
But the slim Motorola W230 might change that.
Not only featuring basic mobile phone functions, W230 also offers, among other things, an MP3 player, an optional microSD card up to 2 GB, an FM radio and a USB 1.1 connectivity.
What about a camera? As expected, the W230 does not have a camera.
W230 A test showed the FM radio featured in the W230 was easy operate.
Without reading a manual leaflet, you could find the FM radio in the W230 screen under the multimedia toolbar or by just pressing the music keypad in the top left corner.
The screen's multimedia toolbar and the music keypad takes you to an MP3 player where you could play your MP3 songs from an external microSD card.
The quality of the sound produced by this inexpensive mobile phone, if you use a headset, is surprisingly good. However, if you activate the speakerphone, which uses a mono quality, the sound is unpleasant.
To use the player you need to store MP3 songs in the music folder of your microSD card. Then insert the microSD card to this W230, before clicking the multimedia keypad to choose a song.
Connecting the W230 with a personal computer (PC) through a USB cable is also simple as you do not need to install a software in the PC to read files from the W230.
